Have questions about HomeBase by CHEC? Below, we've answered the most common questions families ask about pathways, pricing, and support—so you can choose what's right for your family with confidence.
 What is HomeBase by CHEC?
HomeBase is a homeschool support program for Colorado families. Whether you choose the pathway of filing your own Notice of Intent (NOI) or enrolling in the CHEC Independent School, HomeBase gives you one trusted guide, with reminders, and practical support all year long.
Why should I use HomeBase if I am filing an NOI?
Filing an NOI yourself is free, and that's still your right. HomeBase adds a prefilled NOI ready to submit, test scores submitted through CHEC instead of your district, an attendance tracking tool, reminders so nothing slips through the cracks, and over $400 in enrollment perks.
What's the difference between filing my own NOI and enrolling in the CHEC Independent School through HomeBase by CHEC?
An NOI is filed independently with your local school district, and you stay responsible for your own records and test score submission. The CHEC Independent School acts as your umbrella school, holding your enrollment and records for you, with added privacy and flexibility. Both pathways are fully supported through HomeBase, at the same price.
I have a current Colorado teacher's license. Can I still use HomeBase?
Yes. Colorado law exempts currently licensed teachers from reporting and testing requirements, so HomeBase isn't necessary for compliance. If you'd still like the reminders, tools, and support HomeBase offers, you're welcome to join by choosing either the NOI pathway or the CHEC Independent School pathway.
How much does HomeBase cost?
Whether you choose the NOI pathway or the CHEC Independent School pathway, membership in HomeBase is $120/family, with early bird pricing of $95 available through August 31st each year.
What grade levels does HomeBase support?
HomeBase supports Colorado homeschool families with students in all ages and grades.
Can I switch paths after I sign up?
Yes. If your family's needs change, whether you started with an NOI and want to move to the CHEC Independent School, or the reverse, HomeBase can help you make that switch.
What if I've already submitted my Notice of Intent (NOI)?
No problem! You can still join HomeBase and enjoy the tools, reminders, record storage, discounts, and support that HomeBase provides throughout the homeschool year. You don't need to resubmit your NOI to the district
I thought I had to submit my assessment records to my school district. Can I upload them to HomeBase instead?
Yes! Colorado law allows families homeschooling under the NOI pathway to submit their assessment results to an independent school indicated on the NOI form. As a HomeBase member, you can securely upload your assessment records directly to us, and we'll review and store them for you.
